Suggestions for the Westchester County League and National League programs will be communicated to the respective LWVW and LWVUS boards.

Recent LWVS Board Statement re 2026-27 School Budget Planning and Call for Volunteers for School Bond Study Committee

The LWVS Board Statement re 2026-27 School Budget Planning was delivered at the Community Forum on Budget Priorities on Monday, November 17, 2025.


In anticipation of the next school bond referendum, LWVS is convening a study committee to monitor the public past and future School District Administration and the Board of Education discussions concerning the bond and to evaluate, without bias, the pros and cons of the proposals. Recordings of all relevant public meetings and other bond-related materials are located on the District website. All League members are eligible to join. Please email Dalya Khan, School Budget Portfolio Chair, with questions or to participate in the committee.

LWVS will hold its annual general membership information session regarding this year’s Citizens Nominating Committee (CNC) election. Procedure Committee (PC) Chair Ralph Geer and Vice Chair Dan Besikof have been invited to present and answer questions. All members of the public are welcome to attend.

The Procedure Committee is the body that solicits candidates for CNC, proposes amendments to the Resolution, and runs the CNC election and referendum on the amendments, if any. The CNC is the body that vets applicants and nominates the proposed slate for the Village Board of Trustees, including Mayor. The Non-Partisan Resolution is the document that governs the Village’s non-partisan election system.

A consensus discussion will immediately follow the information session for purposes of making recommendations to the Procedure Committee. Only League members may be present for the consensus discussion. Those who have not yet paid annual dues are welcome to renew/join at the event.

School Budget Vote and School Board Election

The proposed 2025-26 school budget will be subject to a vote and the names of all individuals who have successfully filed timely completed candidate petitions will be on the ballot for election to three open School Board positions.

School Board Candidate Information

The candidates whose names will appear on the ballot for the threeo open seats in the upcoming School Board Election are, in alphabetical order, Colleen Brown, Suzie Hahn, and Laura Ying Liu.

Voter Registration Deadline

Thursday, May 15, 2025: Last day to complete and sign the Voter Registration form in person with the District Clerk, Honore Adams, at 2 Brewster Road during regular business hours by appointment only.

Early Mail and Absentee Ballot Deadlines

Early mail and absentee ballot applications are available for download. Completed applications may be submitted in person, by mail, or via email to the District Clerk, Honore Adams, Scarsdale School District, 2 Brewster Road, Scarsdale, NY 10583, (914) 721-2410, hadams@scarsdaleschools.org.

Tuesday, May 13, 2025:  Last day for the District Clerk to receive a completed early mail or absentee ballot application if the voter requests that the absentee ballot be sent to the voter via mail.

Monday, May 19, 2025:  Last day for the voter to appear in person before the District Clerk (by 5 pm by appointment only) to submit a completed early mail or absentee ballot application and be provided the actual absentee ballot.

Tuesday, May 20, 2025 (School Election Day): Last day for the District Clerk to receive completed early mail or absentee ballots by mail or in person by 5 pm.

This panel discussion, moderated by Tiffany Zezula, will examine the dearth of affordable housing in Westchester and its effects on seniors, young adults, and workers hoping to live near their jobs. Panelists include a representative from the Westchester County Department of Planning and members of the Welcome Home Westchester campaign, a multi-stakeholder advocacy effort consisting of business and nonprofit leaders, companies involved in home building and the development of housing, academics, think tanks, anti-homelessness advocates, climate activists, faith leaders, and community advocates working together to drive a new public conversation around fixing the housing shortage in Westchester County.

*Moderator Tiffany Zezula, Esq. is the Deputy Director for the Land Use Law Center at Pace University School of Law in White Plains. She is also a staff consultant for the Housing Action Council. She is the primary trainer and national coordinator for the Center’s Land Use Leadership Alliance Training program for local officials, environmentalists, religious leaders, planners, and developers.
